Economics Nobel prizes

The Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciencies, officially The Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel is an award funded by the central bank of Sweden. It awards a prize each year to individuals who have made significant contributions to the field of Economics.

It is not a Nobel Prize per se, since it was not on the list of subjects originally proposed for them by Alfred Nobel. It was created by the Sveriges Riksbank in 1968, and it has been awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences according to the same principles as the original Nobel Prizes.
