We adopted our Troop number from the motto of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in South Arlington. In the Bible, Matthew 25:35-40 is a critical passage. It ends with: “for whatever you do for the least of my brothers, that you do unto me.” In Boy Scouts, we say it more simply: “to help other people at all times.” The numbers on our shirts are a reminder to do that.

About Troop 2535

Scouts BSA Troop 2535 is a youth ministry of The Cathedral of St. Thomas More founded to serve St. Thomas More Cathedral School as well as parish families of the Cathedral and Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Our troop is open to boys ages 11-17, or age 10 with the Arrow of Light Award. No Scouting experience is necessary. Many of our members were never Cub Scouts.

Scouts BSA is the traditional Scouting program for youth aged 11-17 years old. Scouting America is one of the oldest youth organizations in the United States. We aim to teach young people:

Character development
Citizenship
Leadership
Mental and physical fitness

For over 100 years, Scouting America has helped create generations of leaders and outstanding citizens by allowing Scouts to explore their interests, serve their communities, and discover their talents through youth-led activities like hiking, camping, and volunteering. Scouts progress from rank to rank as they work their way up to Eagle Scout.In Troop 2535, we have weekend campouts several times a year and we usually spend a week at Goshen Scout Reservation in July. There are many service opportunities in our troop: our Scouts participate in Eagle projects, food collections and stream cleanups. We provide service to the parish, school, and district Scouting events. We work on Merit Badges to learn about careers and develop new skills.We are a relatively small troop of 22 boys split into two patrols. Everyone gets to know each other well and our Adult Leaders and older Scouts can provide individual attention as needed. The Scouts learn how to work as a team and how to communicate with adults.Being Catholic is not a requirement to join. We open each meeting with a Catholic prayer and encourage each Scout to learn about his faith. Demonstration of a Scout’s Duty to God is required for every rank.Meetings are from 7:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. most Tuesday nights in the St. Thomas More Cathedral School cafeteria or parking lot, 105 N. We meet at St. Thomas More Cathedral School in the cafeteria. From the cathedral parking lot, continue to the school parking lot, and look for Door 13.
