1954 TR2 - OVC 272 - Doctor's Car

Three cars were apparently prepared for various duties, OVC 262 was used by Maurice Gatsonides and Ken Richardson for a pre-event trial run over the Mille Miglia course, OVC 276 was driven by the pair during the event and OVC 272 was presumed to be a spare/back-up car.

After the TR2's outstanding success of the Mille Miglia, Ken Richardson continued to drive OVC 276 which became his own favoured works entry in many International rallies during the later part of 1954 and 1955.

OVC 262 became Maurice Gatsonides own personal car which he continued to use in some European road rallies and circuit events, it is understood this car no longer exists.

OVC 272 continued to be owned by Standard Triumph and was used by one of the Companies director's Dr W H Osborn and his wife Cherry Osborn in numerous road and rally events including the International RAC Rally on at least one, possibly two occasions. During that time the car became known in the competition department workshop as "The Doctor's Car".

Cherry Osborn went on to co-drive with Lola Grounds in various International rallies in other works Triumph TR3 and Standard 10 cars during the later part of the 1950's.

OVC 272 was later sold to privateers and it is understood used in various competitions until retiring to road use in the 1960s. The car has not been driven since the 1970s.

Some initial dismantling and basic restoration work was started many years ago before I acquired the project during 1996.

It has been in dry storage for a very long period of time.
