Kayaks & Paddleboards

Kayaks and paddleboards are available for guests to enjoy on the lagoon.

Please take a moment to check the conditions before heading out. The lagoon can look calm while still carrying a strong tidal current.

SAFETY FIRST

• Always wear a life jacket.

• Check the tide, wind and weather before setting out.

• Stay well away from the Knysna Heads and the main entrance channel. Strong tidal currents in this area can be dangerous.

• Keep clear of boating channels and other vessels.

• Do not go out in strong wind, poor visibility or unsafe conditions.

• Children must be supervised by a responsible adult.

• If you are unsure about the conditions, please ask reception before going onto the water.

PLEASE LOOK AFTER THE EQUIPMENT

• Carry kayaks and paddleboards rather than dragging them.

• Do not drag paddleboard fins over sand, rocks or hard surfaces.

• Enter the water before standing on a paddleboard so that the fin is clear of the bottom.

• Return kayaks, paddleboards, paddles and life jackets to their designated storage area after use.

WHILE YOU ARE OUT

Stay within an area suited to your ability and keep an eye on the wind and tide. Conditions can change, and the return journey may be harder than the outward trip.

If you get into difficulty, stay with your kayak or paddleboard if it is safe to do so, as it is easier to see from a distance.
