Requirements

Requirements

The idea behind the product is to deliver a reliable, user-friendly solution for enhancing time management and productivity. These requirements are important to take into account in the design process because they  focus on functionality, user satisfaction, and safety.  Which are key aspects a product should have and if it meets the needs of the participant. These requirements will be used for evaluating the three concepts created, in order to determine which concept meets the participant's needs and the specified requirements the best.

Concept evaluation

Grading.xlsx

Above is the table the team used to evaluate the concepts. To do this, weighting factors were applied to each requirement with a scale of 1 to 3 with 1 being a requirement of lower importance and 3 being of paramount importance.  The concepts were graded with a scale of 1 to 3 with 1 meaning the concept barely meeting the requirement and 3 exceeding the requirement. The grades of the concepts were multiplied by the weighting factors of the requirements to obtain the final scores.

Time Catcher was the concept with the highest final score. Not only that, it was the best concept in the requirements with the highest weighting factors, meaning that it was the best-performing concept in the most vital categories.

However, since this design project revolves around a specific user, the participant was involved in the final choice. This was done through a Co-design session, by presenting the three concepts to the case owner and having her express what are her favorite aspects about each one and what she did not like, but without having her make a decision. Through this process, the team derived that the Time Catcher concept was the concept that made the biggest impression on the participant.

Taking all of the above into account, choosing the Time Catcher concept was straightforward since it performed the best in the evaluation and was the one that the case owner appreciated the most.
