Specialized Committee

Embark on an exhilarating adventure as you step into the world of "Outer Banks" at our Specialized Model United Nations committee! Represent iconic characters from the hit Netflix show, navigating the captivating history of the barrier islands off the coast of North Carolina. In this post-Season 3 scenario, you'll grapple with the legacy of Denmark Tanny, the Royal Merchant shipwreck, and the $400 million gold treasure hidden on the island. Join us in this thrilling committee, where delegates will strategize, debate, and collaborate to unravel the mysteries, confront urgent issues, and shape the fate of the Outer Banks.

In this committee, delegates will represent characters from the Netflix show ‘Outer Banks.’ In order to portray your character accurately, you will need to know the history and opinions of your character, as well as a general background of the islands as they are depicted in the show. Your main goals are to create a plan to find the treasure and deal with urgent issues that arise.

This committee will follow standard Model UN parliamentary procedure. As a specialized committee, delegates will need to address the overall goals as well as periodic crisis updates, however, crisis notes will not be used in this committee. The committee will follow the general structure of debate, including points, motions, moderated caucuses, unmoderated caucuses, resolutions, and directives.

It is recommended that you watch the show or familiarize yourself with the plot for supplementary research, but it is not essential to understanding the committee. The background guide will provide the necessary information for a basic understanding of the committee.
