Position Papers

Position Paper Requirements and Recommendations: 

• Times New Roman, 12 Pt 

• Name, Delegation, Committee, and Position in the top-right of your paper

• Bolded or underlined header with topic

• Works Cited page in MLA format

  • Minimum three citations, although strong papers typically have five or more. You may not cite Wikipedia.

• Recommended one-page length (not including citations)

  • NOTE: You may be required to write two papers for two topics, depending on the committee. Please reference your background guide for more details on this.

• Recommended format - three paragraphs:

1. Background on the Topic

2. Your Country or Character's Position

3. Plans and Solutions

Awards

• No award will be given for best position paper.

• Position papers are not directly factored into your awards. However, a good position paper will prepare you well for debate. Writing a well-researched paper is a great way to make the most out of your THSMUNC experience.
