This site has both Old and New Testament stories with cut out pictures available. You could use the pics to help with story syntax and listening comprehension. Plus, telling Bible stories is just an incredible opportunity that you have to share your faith with your refugee friend.
The entire Bible is simplified into simple, short stories. You can download or learn the stories on the site or app! This is an incredible tool to teach a mentee, who may really struggle with writing/reading, how to still listen and hear God’s Word!
They also have the Bible stories in native languages!
NAMB put together this incredible Manual to help church based ESL ministries. It is a more in-depth tool you can use to evaluate, plan lessons, and even how to bridge to sharing the Gospel with your student in both action and word (pages 173-179). This is an invaluable resource- online for free!
