The Refuge Nework of English Ministries seeks to be a connecting point for churches and ministries that wish to care for refugees and immigrants through English as a Second Language (ESL) classes. Our team is able to help you initiate an ESL class at your church or ministry through resources, training, or guidance. If you are an existing ESL class but would like to network with other likeminded ministries, we welcome you to learn more about joining our network, where we meet quarterly to share ideas with one another. The goals of the Refuge ESL Network is that classes would (1) be quality English language classes that meet learners' practical language needs, and (2) contain some component of Christian focus during the class.
Partnership with Refuge
Refuge ESL sites commit to:
1) Instituting and running the class as a ministry of the host church with support from church leadership
2) Teaching English with excellence as outlined above
3) Offering a short instructional component of class that presents a biblical component without misrepresenting the aims of teaching English
4) Periodically sharing feedback and data with Refuge.
Refuge commits to:
1) Providing resources and support for getting the class started
2) Hosting a quarterly forum with other ESL sites to network and share ideas
3) Advertising for the ESL site on Refuge's website and promotional materials
4) Offering templates for marketing materials
5) Supplying additional volunteers where possible
