By: Angeline Wines Taganas
The Thomasian community once again came together in prayer during the monthly Holy Mass in devotion to La Purisima Concepcion today, October 8, 2025, at 3:00 p.m., held at the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of the Immaculate Conception – Sogod. The celebration, part of the observance of the Month of the Holy Rosary, was presided over by Rev. Fr. Merwin L. Kangleon.
In his homily, Fr. Kangleon highlighted the importance of praying together as a community, reminding everyone that “What is ideal is for you to pray as one community and as one family.” He encouraged Thomasians to go beyond routine attendance and let their devotion come sincerely from the heart.
He also reminded that each monthly devotion should be more than a requirement. “Every 8th of the month, you cannot take it as a duty or a requirement for attendance, but from your heart and mind,” he said, inspiring everyone to nurture a deeper and more personal connection with the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Fr. Kangleon further emphasized that the Thomasian family should continue praying for one another, sharing that God calls His people to unity in faith and compassion through collective prayer.
The mass concluded with the final blessing, followed by a special rite of anointing with holy oil for the healing of the sick, and the veneration of the image of La Purisima Concepcion, where devotees reverently touched the feet of the Blessed Mother as an act of love and devotion.
