WELCOME TAGA-COC! COLLEGE OF COMMUNICATION CONDUCTS FIRST DAY OF LIMITED FACE-TO-FACE CLASSES
Scribe by Daniel de la Cruz
Week after the commencement of the Academic Year 2022 - 2023 in West Visayas State University (WVSU), the College of Communication (COC) welcomes the students who were clustered in set A group as scheduled in residential dates, Monday - August 22, 2022.
As part of the blended learning set-up, other sets of students with no laboratory classes utilize remote learning through Brightspace LMS.
βAfter two years of settling in online classes, I felt glad that I have now met my classmates and our professor in the flesh at the COC Lobby. It's also quite ironic and surreal; I still feel like a freshman even though I am already in my junior year, because finally, I have experienced the true college life in the halls of West Visayas State University (WVSU)β, says Noelle Marie Pagunsan, a BA Broadcasting - 3B.
Ms. Pagunsan was just one among the students from the COC who was deprived of years of in-person college experience in the Academe due to the Covid-19 restrictions, albeit, schools resorting to online classes, the situation stole their chance of face-to-face interactions.
βIn the span of two years, I have observed the struggles of the COC students in the new mode of learning. Some almost gave up; many students had to balance academics with work for educational support, and others had lost heart to what they thought they were meant to be. These tough experiences in college are inevitable to happen, but I think that implementing a face-to-face class in the next academic year can at least alleviate them. And it will be a great step towards investing for effective learning. After all, learning never stops which is connected to our tradition of achieving excellence at WVSU.β she added.
Undeniably, the continuous menace in the economy affected the studentsβ pursuance in their education. Likewise, the increasing demand on the system has brought adversities among its constituents and immensely affected the performance of the students.
In spite of increasing financial challenges, students expressed gratitude for a long-sought day to step foot in the school premises, to compensate for the years theyβve lost in the remote learning.
WVSU - COC continues to implement the limited face-to-face classes, following the guidelines provided by the MEMORANDUM No. 22-217 or "Updated Health Protocols and Guidelines under Alert Level 1 for Academic Year 2022-2023".
