The shrine is surrounded by River Jhelum to the West, Khanqah to the North and a graveyard on the other two sides. According to local sources, the shrine contains the cenotaph of Sheikh Ali Wali and members of his immediate family. Historians maintain that he was a prominent Hanafi saint who passed away in 1001 A.H/1592 A.D.
The shrine consists of a four taq single-storey rectangular building aligned along the north-south axis with the main entrance located on the far right corner of the main western facade. The cenotaph of the saint, which lies in the centre, is protected by a ceiling-high wooden screen surrounding it. A number of graves are there around the south and southeastern corner of the building. The building is surmounted by a single-tiered pyramidal roof with a square pavilion on top, covered with the typical khanqah steeple having a brass finial. The building facade comprises a pointed arched opening with wooden pinjrakari infill1.
