Players can make a Clan at any time without needing to gain the status of Staff. There is no time limit to create your own Clan. Below we will list all the necessary steps.
Important note to remember when making a Clan.
Clan leaders are expected to work alongside group members to populate their Clans and keep them engaged in your faction.
Clan leaders [unless stated otherwise!] are not admins nor official part of the Staff!
Clans are encouraged to form rivalries, alliances or even merge with the other Clans and don't require the Staff´s permission for Clan-wide plots.
Spirit Walkers cannot form Clans unless they are in possession of a wolf host body also!
Clans can have multiple leaders at a time. Clan names follow a prefix and suffix system [i.e, Stormstrike, Bloodsong, Soulseeker, Starfall, Sightseer, Blightbane.] Clans can borrow from real life and fiction for ideas on culture, but it should not end up as exact copies of its inspiration, it needs more meat to be defined on its own merit. The Clan cannot go against rules set in the Introduction Guide as well. Clan leaders additionally may be of any age, this also includes puppies and juveniles.
Clans are divided into two types and these types will influence the groundwork and lore of your Clan's founding. Think over what sort of story experience you are looking to build up for your Clan and its future members. Be sure to label your clan as a New Clan or as an Old Clan so members know the best way to interact with it for their lore.
You will be required to make a resource for your clan, such as ranks, culture, history and other important information you want in it. What format you use, Google sites, Google docs, etc, it just needs to be accessible. To start a Clan, please send a ticket in Discord with the request to build a Clan and a link to the resource for review. We as Staff may or may not give critique on a clan if it needs extra tweaking to ensure quality and easier access for members to read. Clan leaders are in charge of updating their resources, Staff will not have involvement in this.
New Clans
A new settlement with no prior history on Animus. They are a fresh and new culture. It's up to the Clan leader and the aspiring Can members to create a culture IC.
Cannot be born into the Clan unless to existing playable parents having a litter of puppies.
Outsiders join to fill its numbers; they are unable to have backstories of being born in the Clan for obvious reasons.
Old Clans
Already existed on Animus even if not mentioned, with an established culture.
Wolves can have backstories about being born and raised here without needing existing playable parents to birth them. This is not obligatory; characters are free to join as well.
Leaders can be created for these Clans. They can also be wolves born in them that later returned or simply an unrelated outsider that gained the rank of leader by joining the Clan.
Characters becoming Clan members can also function similarly depending on what the Clan founder is looking for.
You will need to acquire 2 or more unique wolf Clanmates for your Clan. They will need to have their respective apps updated with their new faction to count as pledged to your Clan. You will ticket Staff these characters for us to confirm your canonization.
Once canonized, your Clan will be open to members joining it at any time and given its own application folder for the DeviantArt group, as well as a spot on the website and DeviantArt homepage acknowledging its existence. Clan leaders also get a custom Discord role so members can reach out to ask questions, plot and more much easier.
Disbanding will depend on different circumstances. We are willing to give grace periods in the case of inactivity. If the Staff is unable to reach a Clan leader or get no response from them then after a period of time, we will remove the Clan from both the website and DeviantArt's front page.
Clan leaders are also able to retire the Clan without choosing a successor or without letting the Staff choose one for them with their explicit permission. When deciding to lead a faction, remember that Clans are shared with the group to be played, so it is important to decide whether you’ll let a Clan be inherited or retired with the creator and its wolf! Do not make a clan without long term goals! Think of your future members that will spend a lot of time and effort in your Clan, it wouldn't be fair to take that from them.
Clan leaders can migrate a Clan to new territory so long as its unclaimed land, they just need to inform Staff of the new homeland you want to take. This will leave your previous territory up for grabs by current and founding clans as well. You can also rebrand your Clan, just keep your members updated and let Staff know.
When migrating territory, you can't destroy the previous one and render it inhabitable. This is done so that other players can claim it, damage can still be done to it, but the following Clans should still be able to survive in it.
Your Clanmates are their own living, breathing entity, as such, they are not a clan leader's plaything. Clan leaders can lay out foundations, rules, laws, and more but this does not mean your members will always listen to you. You are however allowed to give Clanmates in-game consequences as deemed fit. Do not make a Clan to purely pander to your character as well, a Clan is only as happy and thriving as its members.
