Joe Juptner reported that 75 R40's were manufactured. 11 24R40's were delivered to Siam (Thailand). Some of those delivered to other countries were impressed into service. In addition, it has been reported that 13 were delivered to the US Navy as the GK-1.

R40-407, delivered to Australia as VH-ADF, then impressed into service as UC-86 (A36-4) RAAF. Returned as VH-ADF.
R40-409, NC25392, purchased from civilian owner, as UC-86 42-94142, returned as NC25392.
