Joe Juptner reported that 75 R40's were manufactured. 11 24R40's were delivered to Siam (Thailand). Some of those delivered to other countries were impressed into service. In addition, it has been reported that 13 were delivered to the US Navy as the GK-1.

  • R40-402, NC25325 impressed into service as UC-86 42-78092 then back as NC47054.

  • R40-405, NC25331 purchased from owner, fitted with a 165 hp engine and designated XUC-86. Returned as NC99411, now NC48411.

  • R40-407, delivered to Australia as VH-ADF, then impressed into service as UC-86 (A36-4) RAAF. Returned as VH-ADF.

  • R40-409, NC25392, purchased from civilian owner, as UC-86 42-94142, returned as NC25392.

  • R40-412, NC28502, purchased from private owner, as UC-86 42-66385, no details. Returned as NC60478.

  • R40-415, NC28508, purchased from civilian owner, as UC-86 42-78034, to CAA as NC250

  • R40-417, NC28526, purchased from civilian owner, as UC-86 42-78043.

  • R40-418, NC28539, purchased from civilian owner, as UC-86 42-66350, returned as NC28359.

  • R40-421, NC28529, UC-61, now NC18658

  • R40-422, NC28530, purchased from private owner, fitted with a 165 hp engine and designated XUC-86 42-68852. Now NC50586

  • R40-423, NC28531, later converted to sn R40-424 as NC 41846, then to R42-400. Now registered as NC41846
