Matilda Stevens

Matilda has been dancing since the age of five and competing in competitions since the age of nine.

During that time, she has sat many dance examinations across various genres such as RAD, AJDA, NZAMD, DNZM, and ABT, and has been awarded top studio marks on multiple occasions.

She has participated in countless dance competitions and workshops in both New Zealand and Australia, and she absolutely loves performing and learning from others.

Matilda is currently in her third year as an Associate majoring in Contemporary at the New Zealand School of Dance. This involves traveling to Wellington once a term to train.

Her most recent achievements include receiving the ILT Supreme Scholarship Award at the Southland Dance Competition in 2023. She also made it to the Semi-Finals at the South Island Ballet Awards and received a Dance Masters International Winter School Scholarship. Additionally, she was awarded a Brent Street Summer School Scholarship (Sydney) while attending one of their NZ workshops, which she attended in January 2024.

In 2024, Matilda performed in the Junior Musical Theatre production of SpongeBob (ensemble). She placed 1st at the NZAMD Contemporary Scholarship competition and received a Classical Soloist nomination, where she represented the Alexandra Musical Society at the NZPA Awards.

Matilda absolutely loves to dance; it brings her so much joy, and she is very excited to share her passion with others in a teaching capacity.

She is really looking forward to the year ahead and believes it is an absolute privilege and honor to be teaching the younger generation at Creatives.
