With this project, we wanted to humanize the immigrant experience. We collected audio stories told by students, teachers, and former alumni. Each fragment of the butterfly represents a person's story. We want the people of our community to feel like they're not, as some say, 'aliens.' And to know that no human being is illegal.

By having students and teachers share their personal stories about immigration, we hope others feel comfort and not feel so alone or 'in the shadows.'

In the future we plan to 3d print our fragmented butterfly and put a QR on each fragment so that students and faculty can hear an anonymous story, when they walk by it.
