THE LAGRO SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL

HISTORY OF LHS

Lagro High School (Tagalog: Paaralang Sekundarya ng Lagro) is a public high school in Quezon City, Philippines. It is located in the Lagro District. The neighborhood homeowners group formed Novaliches High Institution in 1974, and the school was renamed Lagro High School in 1978.

The GSIS La Mesa Homeowners Association (GLAMEHA) requested in the early 1970s that a high school be constructed close to their elementary school in the Lagro community. The local government and the education bureau collaborated to build a high school annex out of two Lagro Block 59 housing units. Novaliches High School debuted on June 13, 1974, with an enrolment of 87 students. The principal was Florencio Dumlao. The annex was moved into the Lagro Elementary School compound in August, with a new principal and three teachers. Its first class graduated on March 1, 1976.

The school had 774 students in the 1977-78 academic year, and in June 1978, it moved to a 1.3-hectare location with a two-story extension building with 18 classrooms. In the southern side of the site, a six-room building was constructed. Other annex structures, such as the Patayas annex in 1987, the Fairview annex in 1993, and the SB Building in 2003, were built or bought.

The number of students attending Lagro High School has expanded throughout the years as it is the sole high school in Northern Metro Manila, Southern Bulacan, and Western Rizal.

The LHS Courier (Filipino: Lagro Pahatid) is a monthly publication issued by the LHS. Students compete in the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC), a national competition, on a regular basis.

During the 2005–06 school year, Lagro High School introduced the countrywide Special Program in the Arts (SPA). Theater arts, visual arts, creative writing, music, and dance were among the five subjects offered in the curriculum. In the 2007-08 school year, a sixth class, media arts, was added. An yearly exhibition and performance allows students to demonstrate their talents.

Awit ng Lungsod Quezon

Music by: Dr. Eliseo Pajaro

Lyrics by: Ligaya Perez

I

Lungsod Quezon, aming mahal,

Araw Mo ay saganang tunay,

Sa amin ang alab mo'y buhay,

Sa β€˜Yo buong sigla kaming nagpupugay.

II

Dito’y ilaw ang diwa Mo,

Hiyas Ka ng Bayang sinisinta,

Dito’y nupli mithiing banal,

Sa β€˜Yo ang pag-ibig namin at dangal.

III

Lungsod Quezon, aming mahal,

Pugad ka ng laya’t kagitingan,

Dito’y nupli mithiing banal

Sa β€˜Yo ang pag-ibig namin at dangal

Sa β€˜Yo ang pag-ibig naming at buhay.

ADVOCACY

Empowering students can deeply affect a society where they can boldly take part, make a stand and let their voice be heard without hesitancy. Learners believed to be the treasure of the future. A key to the success of past and present’s misery. Students’ performance at school may have a big impact on what the future will be. Guiding and close monitoring to the learner is one of the major things that should be given attention. It is more vital to enlighten the entire community about empowering learners than it is to educate individuals at work or in school, because informing more people about an issue increases the likelihood of permanent change or at least influences others for better decision making as a citizen of the dynamic society.
