In the post apocalyptic setting of After the Flash, the ACMF have divided the responsibilities on an individual basis in both combat and the upkeep of their camps. By having individuals stick to their expertise they can provide the best they can to the survival efforts and keep their skills sharpened to teach to their possible descendants.
Although Roles are usually assigned to faction members of the Trooper rank, it is good practice to keep your character's fields of interest and expertise in mind when making them.
The standard trooper role, also referred to as riflemen. Equipped with the basic and more versatile weaponry and equipment. They are the Jack of all trades, masters of none. Although they don't possess any specialization befitting other roles, they often have other more versatile functions within the camp such as farming or trading and will regularly help wherever needed. These troopers allow the ACMF survivors to stay versatile and are key to ensure adaptability.
Field medics are in the middle of the fight, both to take their enemy's life and to keep their comrades from losing theirs. Outside of combat they act as the medical personnel and keep tabs on the health of their fellow survivors. They are usually carrying around a fair amount of medical supplies. Field medics have lighter equipment than the basic trooper, usually sporting carbines and other similar weapons.
Shocktroopers are assault specialists, they are trained to strike enemy locations swiftly and without mercy. They are more often than not the ones that see the most close quarter combat and are often closely involved in taking down threats to the ACMF camps. They are equipped with submachine guns, shotguns and when possible, body armor.
The heavy troopers are specialized in weapons like LMG’s and everything that can be considered heavy equipment and form the bulwark of the ACMF. They often carry explosives or additional munitions for their comrades. They also possess the training and skills to operate and maintain heavy machine guns, RPGs and grenade launchers and are usually seen sporting bulkier armor than most regular ACMF remnants.
The engineers are the technically-inclined of the ACMF. They maintain most equipment and machinery as well as assist in the upkeep of the ACMF camps' defenses. They are trained to handle various explosives and are usually seen equipped with carbines and their engineers tools. Combat engineers are trained in a broad range of tasks including tinkering, building, clearing explosive hazards, creating obstacles and demolitions.
The recon are the scouts, hunters and spies of the ACMF remnants. They are often sent out to report on certain locations or vantage points to gather information and provide overwatch if needed. Only exceeded by the heavy troopers, the recon experts are most often on defensive duties. The recon are usually found equipped with designated marksman rifles or sniper rifles and stay lightly geared.
These ranks can be used for characters’ backgrounds and stories. They serve the purpose to give a bit more depth and clarification to making an ACMF character sheet or biography. These ranks however do not grant IC power over an equally group ranked member.
