Pap and Akara is a dish that is enjoyed by many Nigerian households every Saturday morning. From the combined efforts that is put into the preparation to the communal gathering as a family to enjoy a dish prepared with love.
Ingredients
Processed maize, Beans (Honey beans / Black eye beans), Scotch bonnet, Red bell peppers, Onions, Salt, Cooking oil
Preparation for Pap
Add water to a pot or kettle and bring to a boil.
Put your processed maize into a bowl and mix with a little cold water.
After water is boiled, slowly add to the mixed maize and stir.
Add sugar and milk to your desired taste.
Preparation for Akara
Soak beans in water then peel the shaft away.
Step one hack; add beans to a blender with water to cover it then pulse like five to seven times.
After beans is peeled, add to blender with washed scotch bonnet, onions and red bell pepper.
Pour blended mix and add salt to taste.
Mix your beans batter clockwise for six to ten minutes.
Add cooking oil to pan and heat up.
Scoop the bean batter and add to the hot cooking oil.
Fry on medium to low heat and turn once you see the beans batter harden.
Once done put the akara into a sieve do drain excess oil.
Serve and enjoy with your hot pap.
