Module 5 - Conclusion

Creating Positive Conditions

Take Action

In this module, you've learned how to create positive conditions through policies, procedures, and practices that enhance the health and well-being of persons with dementia.

You've explored the importance of actively involving families and circles of support in service and support plans. And you've learned how to respect a person's right to sexual expression while protecting against instances of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

How to Report ANE

The requirement is that the report must first be made by phone immediately (as soon as possible after discovery of an instance of abuse, but no longer than 24 hours) and a written report of the investigation of the alleged abuse must be completed and submitted within five (5) working days after the telephone report.

This information should be posted somewhere in your facility where it is visible to all care recipients, caregivers, and visitors.
