As a severe crisis unfolds in the LP-I, the focus is on Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Rujal Ojha). The crisis involves allegations that the party, including several influential figures associated with the Maoist Party, has been implicated in a rape case. This has intensified tensions in the House of Representatives.
The delegate of Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Rujal Ojha) trying to defend themselves stated that the case was concealed to manage the country.
“As the delegate of Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Rujal Ojha) was hiding the case to manage the country, doesn’t the delegate think that giving justice to the victim and their family is more important than ‘managing the country’ ”? Also, how can hiding a rape case be favorable for the development of the country?” the delegate of Sher Bahadur Deuba (Kritish Ghimire) questioned fiercely.
“The party of Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Rujal Ojha) is hiding the rape case, how will the country be a safe place for citizens if the leaders themselves are hiding the case?” the delegate of Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai (Sofiya Gurung) asked.
Recent updates revealed the involvement of Janardan Sharma (Aashmi Gurung) in the rape case. “The Maoist party receives support from CPN-UMC because CPN-UMC is also involved in the pending Nirmala Pant case. Supporting the Maoist party might benefit both parties in handling the case,” accused the delegate of Sher Bahadur Deuba (Kritish Ghimire).
The delegate of Janardan Sharma (Aashmi Gurung) accused the Congress of being in a position of power during the escalation of rape cases in Nepal.
Gokul Prashad Baskota (Timothy Rajiv Kandel) remarked, “Rape cases can be beneficial.”The controversial statement of the delegate of Gokul Prasad Baskota led to heated debate about how a rape case could be seen as advantage.
The delegate of Gokul Prasad Baskota (Timothy Rajiv Kandel) later apologized for the statement made earlier.
The committee was divided into two factions, each presenting a resolution. The first resolution was sponsored by Rekha Sharma (Sophiya Gurung), Janardan Sharma (Aashmi Gurung), and Rabi Lamichhane (Simran Devkota) from the Maoist party, while the second resolution was presented by Chandra Bhandari (Diwan Khatri), KP Oli (Dilasha Oli), and Sher Bahadur Deuba (Kritish Ghimire). The resolution from KP Oli (Dilasha Oli), Sher Bahadur Deuba (Kritish Ghimire), and Chandra Bhandari (Diwan Khatri) was passed by a ⅔ majority.
The committee concluded by encouraging citizens to oppose rape cases and calling on the government to take necessary actions. It urged the parties to find common ground and act fairly, emphasizing that human and fundamental rights are equal for everyone.
