ECOSOC Debates on Modern Economic Instability Due to Colonization

On August 14 2024 The Economic Social Council(ECOSOC) committee faced a crisis delving into the issue of trade manipulation,which had caused economic instability and social tensions in the country. According to the crisis, the delegates of France(Sonam Dorje Sherpa) and USA(Sujan Subedi) were the offenders who manipulated the country Ukraine(Kareen Neupane) and Bangladesh(Unish Uprety) which was the main highlight of the trade manipulation crisis.
However, the delegate of Ukraine(Kareen Neupane) stated,”USA has helped the delegate of Ukraine with military support so the delegate is joining forces with the delegates of France and USA”. The delegate of Russia(Kabya Adhikari),China(Shishir Khanal),Bangladesh(Unish Uprety) ,being in an alliance in the crisis had a heated debate with the delegate of Ukraine(Kareen Neupane),Mexico(Prithu Devkota),USA(Sujan Subedi) and France(Sonam Dorje Sherpa) accused each other regarding the trade crisis.
The official session was opened by the General Speaker List (GSL) of the Economic Social Council (ECOSOC), the delegate of Pakistan (Shine Tamrakar) being the first speaker concluded his GSL stating Pakistans’ contribution to the economic and social structure. However, the question posed to the delegate of Pakistan (Shine Tamrakar) by the representatives of Bangladesh (Unish Uprety), Japan (Sheewin Shrestha), and the United States (Sujan Subedi) we’re left unanswered.
After the General Speaker List (GSL) the committee was diverted to the moderated caucus on the topic ”Modern Economic Instability due to Colonization” raised by the delegate of Russia (Kabya Adhikari) presented his views on colonization and how it affects foundation of economic, accusing the delegates of Mexico (Prithu Devkota), Ukraine (Kareen Neupane), Japan (Sheewin Shrestha), and UK (Suprinsha Lama) of economic instability, exploitation, poor governance, systematic discrimination, uneven industrial development, and increasing wealth by colonization.
Adding to which the delegate of Bangladesh (Unish Uprety) further stated that Bangladesh has been the focus of anti-corruption agency investigations and the prosecution of corrupt officials, while disputing the delegate of UK (Suprinsha Lama) for exploiting and extracting resources, laborers, and the delegate of Japan (Sheewin Shrestha) for imperial expansion, social and economic inequality, and industrial exploitation.
"Ukraine has been making significant changes and development in sectors like Education, solving issues such as social and economic inequality", the delegate of Ukraine (Kareen Neupane) stated. “Additionally, Ukraine is in favor of building infrastructure in damaged properties, and regional developments.”
Further supporting the delegate of Ukraine (Kareen Neupane), the delegate of Japan (Sheewin Shrestha), dismissed the accusations, claiming that despite having colonized China(Shishir Khanal), Korea(Sudishna Lama), and Myanmar(Rehan Maharjan), Japan (Sheewin Shrestha)had assisted those nations in improving their agricultural and healthcare systems. They also accused the delegate of Russia (Kabya Adhikari), of disputing the energy supply.
The delegate of Ukraine (Kareen Neupane), further accused the delegate of Russia (Kabya Adhikari), and the delegate of Bangladesh (Unish Uprety), of corruption and inequality.Defending the delegate’s country by asserting that it has been implementing anti-corruption initiatives and maintaining increased transparency in governance.
The delegate of Bangladesh (Unish Uprety) accused the delegate of France (Sonam Dorje Sherpa) of conducting mining deals while keeping African countries in the dark and favoring France exclusively.
To sum up the debate, all delegates came to the conclusion to make peace with each other by making a resolution on the topic“Colonization effects on economic and social states of countries”.the resolution was sponsored by the delegates of Afghanistan(Shreejit Shrestha),India(Puspa Dhakal),Japan(Sheewin Shrestha) & Sri Lanka(Suditi Baniya) passed with the full house majority.
The committee was adjourned after the resolution was passed, everyone will be able to see more about the debates of this committee in the near future.
