After years of disrepair once AOL dropped their sponsorship in 2006, Disney announced at the D23 Expo 2019 a massive redevelopment plan for the pavilion with a massive Wreck-It Ralph coat of paint. Now known as the Wreck-It Ralph’s Database, the pavilion would gain a retheme to the dated Web Surfer, a new tech campus inspired table service restaurant, an interactive Audio-Animatronic show, a revival of a beloved EPCOT Center character, and bringing back many of the fun post-show activities that had previously been replaced by Disney Interactive video game demos. It would also become apart of the new sub-area, World Connection along with The Land pavilion.
Concept art of the new Future World neighborhoods, as revealed during the Parks, Experiences, and Products panel at the D23 Expo 2019. The Database, which will be rethemed to Disney's Wreck-It Ralph films, will be part of the World Connection neighborhood alongside The Land pavilion.
The move of course was controversial (especially considering the mixed reception of the movie it was based on), but all agreed that the entire pavilion gave a dated view on the Internet and computers in general so it was in need of an update. Let us all go down together and see how it turned out, when it finally opened in the summer of 2022...
Wreck-It Ralph’s Database stands in the same place as The Database pavilion. The color scheme of the Brutalist-style pavilion has been refreshed with a more modern palate of light blues and purples. The circuit board stylings have instead been remade to resemble a Times Square-style city with icons for fictional apps like Buzztube and Knowsmore attached to the building. A sign advertises Ralph and Vanellope’s Internet Compu-tour the ride that is enterable through the main entrance under the sign. The sign occasionally glitches out into a quick kill screen before reverting back to the standard signage. Guests go through the main entrance to enter the queue.

As part of the refresh of The Database pavilion into Wreck-It Ralph's Database, a new logo debuted at the D23 Expo in 2019. A love letter to the pavilion's past, present, and future, it uses circuit paths that form a hexagonal shape (representing first iteration of The Database), which is then triplicated to form a web-like structure (representing the second iteration of the pavilion, as well as its future as Wreck-It Ralph's Database).
Enter the World Wide Web like you've never entered it before, in EPCOT's newest family-friendly coaster based on the Wreck-It-Ralph films!
After guests exit their ride vehicles, guests enter to their right plug themed tunnels just like they saw at the beginning of the queue. It takes guests into the Router Route, a high tech showcase showing a multitude of interactive experiences for guests to enjoy. This area is themed to a small roadside city that’s located in Litwak’s Arcade’s network router. So each “building” is themed to a different part of a router (heat sync, circuit boards, route memory, etc.) and the "road" is a green glowing path. The walls are plain black to make the stands stand out even more!
Router Route of course replaces the original Cyber Showcase room though it is smaller due to the lobby for the Tech Talk attraction and Router Retail taking bites out of the overall space. There still is plenty to see here with 7 interactive experiences (plus special arcade cabinets) for guests to see along the Tech Talk show and the Cyber Café restaurant.
Using a similar interactive theater format as Meet Mickey! at Hollywood Studios, this show uses a cutting edge audio animatronic with a lot of Artificial Intelligence that will talk, answer questions, and even quiz the audience.
Face to Face: An update to Tele Talkers. Chat with someone in a booth on the opposite side of the pavilion while adding fun filters and effects to your side of the conversation.
The Flow of Information: An update to Circuit Connectors. Professor Knowmore needs some help fixing his search engine’s pipes! Using a touchscreen guests create a complete pipeline to the goal (shown on a separate 110” screen) to get the information delivered to the search engine user.
Virus Shoot-off: Sergeant Calhoun needs help eradicating a new threat in the network: viruses. Using AR Binocular-like turrets, guests shoot all the viruses that they can in a minute and a half.
Typing Challenge: Test your typing speed and compete with other guests to see who is the fastest typist in the Router!
Actor Transformation Studio: Using incredible deep fake technology, after guests are filmed giving a performance, they can be transformed into one of many famous actors. Chris Pratt, Daisy Ridley, Robert Downey Jr. and many more are all here as options to choose from!
Sugar Code Rush: The programming for Sugar Rush is going berserk! By using block coding, program Sugar Rush back to normal so that Vanellope can win the big race.
AI-RTIST: Using a database of over 300,000 pieces of art, an AI named Otto von Maté (Created by S.E.A. member, Mikey Mystic) will create a custom piece of art based on what a guest describes to them.
Fix It Felix Jr. Arcade Cabinets: Taken from the old Disney Quest arcade, 5 Fix It Felix Jr. cabinets are playable to guests recreating the arcade game as seen in the movie.
Visit a modern style, tech campus-inspired table service restaurant with a view that gives a high in the sky view of EPCOT!
Guests can take a tour inside of a router finding all of the latest tech inspired merch!
As part of the pavilion refresh in preparation for the arrival of Wreck-It Ralph's Database, Imagineers designed a one-of-a-kind, EPCOT-first, lighting package for the computer/Internet-themed pavilion.
At certain times at night before and after the nighttime spectacular Epcot Forever (or its upcoming replacement, HarmonioUS), Wreck-It Ralph's Database will present a short lighting show, powered by the pavilion's new lighting kit. In addition to the newly-installed lit-up windows and web icons on the facade, Imagineers have outfitted the circuit paths on the facade with various tubed strip lights that have been programmed to "race-trace" around the pavilion facade and installed LED searchlights that will shoot pulsing rays of white and colored lights on the roof of the pavilion. This effect represents the energy and coming-together of the world through the World Wide Web, a celebration of its connection and community, and in many ways, a perfect visual for guests leaving the pavilion and EPCOT for the day.
