(Interactive character show)
For those looking for some electronic intelligence, the Search Bar is hosting a special conference with the Memory And Recognition Intelligence Assistant: MARIA! She’s ready to help answer your questions, and even put your own mind to a trivia test.
(Visual influence for the Search Bar)
Among the space of the Router Route, guests might see the gate that is designed to resemble a table topped by a mug and cup, both adorned with question marks. Written across the side of this “table” is THE SEARCH BAR, as a sign on one of the “legs” reads TECH TALK. Stepping inside, guests head into a lobby that looks like a fusion of the crisp white and blue internet aesthetic from Ralph Breaks the Internet with the bookshelves straight out of a library. Posters throughout the Search Bar advertise a variety of websites, such as Slaughter Race and BuzzzTube, along with providing warnings about proper internet safety. Eventually, the line reaches an end in front of a set of doors marked with broken JPEG images, with some TV monitors above offering some fun trivia questions to pass the time.
(The Search Bar main logo)
Closer to showtime, the TV monitors get some new life as they play the preshow. An ad (animated in a '60s retro-futuristic style) starts up, talking about how tough it can be to get a straight answer from most search engines. They either don’t deliver what you are looking for, or don’t even know what you’re asking. Well, The Search Bar is proud to unveil an AI who will help give the answers you need: the Memory And Recognition Intelligence Assistant, also known as MARIA! She’s there with plenty of answers and opinions for what you need, and can even help to make sure you’re getting smarter as well. Now, the Search Bar is offering guests the first-ever chance to meet this AI face to face! With this invitation given, the doors open up and guests head inside the theater.
(Back wall of the stage)
Inside, we find a theater where the main wall of the stage is lined with bookshelves, as two screens flanking the stage bare the Search Bar’s logo. Once we are all seated inside the theater and the doors close, a Search Bar attendant welcomes us and thanks us for coming out to this special conference. With that, they are proud to introduce MARIA! The middlemost bookshelves part, as MARIA (an audio-animatronic who resembles a woman in a 1960s retro-futuristic suit) stands on a platform that moves downstage. MARIA says she is happy to be here after voyaging in the depths of cyberspace, and proud to demonstrate the next phase of search engine technology. She does say that the right answer depends on the right question, so she advises the audience to be precise in the questions they’d like to give her.
(Visual influence for MARIA redesign)
Thanks to a variety of cameras, sensors, and a full database of knowledge, MARIA serves as a highly-advanced combination of independent thinking AI and audio-animatronic, in addition to a bold reimagining of the character that once stood in the Cyber Showcase. She’s eager to help answer questions posed to her by the audience (directly commenting on guests as she calls for their questions), though she can be a little snarky in her own pride about her advanced knowledge capability. She can even make side comments in regards to guests, such as complimenting an outfit or noticing if an audience member is smiling. After a while of answering questions, MARIA will decide that she’s a little bored with answering questions and wants to see if we really are getting better thanks to her wondrous intelligence. With that, it’s TRIVIA TIME! MARIA poses a variety of trivia questions for us, covering a whole gamut of topics from her databases. If enough people answer successfully, she’ll say that she’s proud of how smart we are. If enough people answer incorrectly, however, she may teasingly suggest that the only intelligence around here seems to be artificial.
With that, MARIA says she has to power down for a bit, but thanks us for visiting and hopes we keep learning more as we venture out into the internet. MARIA moves back among the bookshelves, as the Search Bar attendant thanks us for visiting. With that, the doors on the other side of the theater open up as we head on out.
