In the heart of the Disney Decade, several parks and resorts saw adaptations to the changing times, some more preferential than others. With the rise of thrill attractions at the Walt Disney World Resort, garnered by the 1994 success of The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and the upcoming "fastest ride at WDW" - Test Track, coming soon in 1998, Epcot began modifications to their computer-themed pavilion - The Database, formally sponsored by Texas Instruments, now sponsored by AOL.
These enhancements came at the behest of the park to cater more towards teens and young adults. Gone were the lengthy dark rides of old, such as World of Motion and The Compu-Tour, and in came attractions that would add to Epcot's lineup. At the direction of Disney CEO Michael Eisner, with the new Boardwalk Resort and Boardwalk Villas being added in 1995 to the Crescent Lake, the goal was to transform both Epcot and Disney's MGM-Studios into the thrill capital of WDW. With that directive, came Epcot's first roller-coaster - Web Surfer, replacing The Compu-Tour, and the Navigator Lounge, replacing the Cyber Showcase
