Ralph and Vanellope’s Internet Compu-tour reuses the ride system and track layout of Web Surfer with the focus on this retheme being to add additional scenery through the use of mainly projections/screens and still figures, while giving the ride an updated look at a modern Internet. Also adding a pre-established IP, Duh!
Now that we got the introduction out of the way, let’s joining Ralph and Vanellope in a wild family coaster ride through the web in New EPCOT:
The queue starts through a circuit tunnel like those seen in Wreck It Ralph and it’s sequel that takes guests into Game Central Station, the Grand Central Terminal located inside a power strip. The queue winds around the Station, where most of the queue takes place, where guests can see the signs and entrances for many games at Litwak’s Arcade. Guests also hear announcements calling for certain characters in their games including a certain Dr. Turing needed in a game called Cyber Showoff.
Finally guests enter into the Sugar Rush entrance where they’re in the caves of the Diet Coke Mountain. As guests climb this cavity-inducing and claustrophobic landscape. Ralph and Vanellope can be heard chatting about this new thing called “Wi-Fi” that would be a ton of fun to explore. As guests continue further, they see more and more Mentos stalagmites are on the ceiling making it a good time to escape back to the Station.
Guests go through for a short stint through Game Central Station where they enter into a tunnel labeled “Wi-Fi” where the loading station for the attraction is located. Despite the relative newness of this station it’s covered in graffiti with video game references. Since there’s no pre show like the previous rides housed here, Sonic the Hedgehog (voiced by Roger Craig Smith as his last voice over as the character) gives the safety spiel while guests wit for their opportunity to board. Guests enter into roller coaster cars with a green cyber aesthetic and are off to sur- explore the internet!
The ride begins inside Litwak’s router where the vehicles start going up a lift hill, where to the side Ralph and Vanellope to the side of the track are looking ahead trying to see what is through the tunnel.
-”There it is Ralph, the gateway to the Internet!”
-”Oooh the internet, what do you do there?”
- “You can learn about stuff and..”
-”Who would go somewhere to learn about stuff that sounds boring”
-”There’s more to the Internet, Ralph. Plenty of fun things to do.”
As the guests start to approach the peak of the incline, Ralph mentions:
“Ya know Sonic made the internet sound more excitin-”
Sonic who made the Internet sound exciting
Guests plummet through a broadband as Ralph (and probably the riders) scream in excitement. It then goes up an incline where guests grab a quick view of the city before entering it. At (what feels like) super speed the vehicles go through this city and see all what it has to offer which includes nearly hitting some pop-up advertisers and even the BuzzzTube algorithm Yesss near a bunny hop.
After a S curve, the vehicles enter into the gritty gateway into Slaughter Race where guests go up a second lift hill. Guests are informed by Shank located above them (an advanced audio animatronic figure) that they have been challenged to a race where only the winner will live another day. She advises us to start our engines for a rolling start and starts counting down the race’s start. As Shank is doing this, two Mad Max style monster cars pull up beside guests (through projection), but what they don’t realize is that they have been chained up to a post by Ralph and Vanellope from moving any further. As guests reach the top the vehicles that the guests ride in are the only ones able to move as they start plunging down a steep drop into the World of Slaughter Race.
The vehicles go through the many winding streets and many hills of Slaughter Race narrowly avoiding anything in their way (which involves a route through an old man’s apartment at one point). Guests cross the finish line where a voiceover announces “A Winner is You!” After turning a curve, the ride stops in front of an animatronic of Vanellope holding the trophy. She congratulates the guests, but informs them that she entered into the race in her own name so she gets to keep the trophy. The vehicles then move towards the unload station, where guests exit the roller coaster cars as Ralph gives a safety spiel about how to exit the vehicles safety and enter into the post-show area.
