JULY 13th-17th
Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams was a famous photographer who took pictures of nature—especially mountains, forests, and parks.
He was born in 1902 in San Francisco
He loved being outside and exploring nature
He became one of the most famous photographers in the world!
Ansel Adams took black and white photos of:
Tall mountains
Big trees
Rivers and lakes
National parks like Yosemite National Park
Back then, color photography wasn’t common.
But Ansel Adams chose black and white because:
It shows light and shadows really well
It makes details stand out
It helps people feel calm and amazed

Students will draw mountains on the white paper, cut out the mountains and place them on the black paper, teacher might want to put a small piece of tape on the mountains to hold it (it will be removed later),
Use the colored chalk to shade in the tops of the mountain range and just a little bit of the black construction paper, alternate colored chalk
After all of the mountain range has been shade with the colored chalk, use a finger to smear it toward the black construction paper (up), remove the white paper
