Past Challenges

In the month of April, our players collectively ran over 75 miles. Rode bikes for over 34 hours (estimate around 150 miles). And had over 51,700 touches on the ball reported! Other honorable mentions go out to the kids who are learning new life skills, volunteering in their neighborhoods, getting out hiking in nature, cooking and doing yoga & stretching for good health.

APRIL WEEK 1 bonus challenges

~2000 touches on the ball

~10 minutes practice most thigh juggles in a row

~1 mile Run in under 10 minutes or 15 minute indoor cardio

April Week 2 bonus challenges

~2000 touches on the ball [freestyle, your choice]

~soccer zumba [create a soccer dance move to share]

~10 minutes working on ball control on the ground in tight spaces [setup some obstacles and dribbles around them using tiny touches]

~Toilet paper roll juggle challenge [practice juggling using random SOFT household items; tp, stuffed animal, eraser, Easter egg.. get creative but ask permission before using the last roll or anything else that could possible break something]

APRIL WEEK 3 bonus challenges

~30, 60, or 120 second challenge [complete 5 exercises and record the number of reps you can do in a set time period, try again x3 times this week to see if you can improve on your numbers. HINT: if it is too easy, increase your time/reps]

-jumping jacks or jumping rope

-sit-ups or plank, 20-second hold = 1 rep

-mountain climbers

-push-ups, shoulder-taps or ball push-ups

-in 10 meters space - jockey backwards and sprint forward between given space = 1 rep

MAY WEEK 1 bonus challenges

~Passing Techniques [study and/or practice passing patterns, share your favorite]

~Juggling Tricks & Control Out of the Air [Try to learn the Akka move or create & perfect your own juggling/trapping trick to share]

~Vitamin D Outdoor Workout [you choose the exercise type & the difficulty level to fit your needs, but remember the goal is to challenge & push yourself: soccer, cardio/core, running, biking, swimming, dancing, hiking/trail running, parkour, basketball, tennis or anything else that get's your heart pumping and you moving as much as possible for at least an hour outside]

MAY WEEK 2 & 3 bonus challenges

~Box or Small Space Skills [work on 1st touch, quick footwork, ball control or goalie skills in small spaces at home. Find inspiration in this week's videos]

~Essential Skills [pick one of the essentials to focus and work on for 30 minutes: 1st touch, passing, ball control, dribbling or shooting] *vary your workouts throughout the week and work on more than one essential for extra points*

~5 mile Personal Triathlon [complete 5 miles over the course of the week BUT the miles must come from at least 3 different activities. Running & biking are easy miles, right. Now get creative to complete miles in different ways: swimming, hiking, canoeing, basketball, soccer/futsal, tennis and so on. If needed, it is okay to estimate your miles based off of energy output and time]

~Injury Prevention Exercises [study up on your understanding of injury prevention methods and share what you personally plan to do to minimize your risks. Topics you might look at include; benefits of being a multi-sport athlete, varying activities and working different muscle groups, preventative exercises, rest, rehab & recovery after injuries, including days of physical recovery to take time to focus on game film study, yoga/stretching or foam roller/tennis ball massage] *note: videos related to this challenge can be found on the resource pages*

MAY WEEK 4 challenges (100 bonus points will be awarded for completing 3 challenges before June 5) **June's new bonus checklist has posted. MLS UPDATE coming soon!**

~CALL OUT CHALLENGE [announced during the zoom call today. CALL OUT a teammate and CHALLENGE them to compete against each other for a set task]

~Position Specific Tactics [watch game film analysis to help you understand the tactical side of your player's role. Bonus points can be earned for sharing the video you studied with others]

~Training Outside Your Position [switch things up for a session and work on a different position or skill set than you normally do. Shooters, get shot on. Goalies, work on dribbling. Defenders, practice shooting. Dribblers, work on passing]

~Add Your Input [share your favorite YouTube tutorial or resource link to add to the website. You may copy and paste the link in your report, or email or text]

~Easy 100 bonus points for anyone that finds a person you know from soccer in a video on the educational resource page, and then report 1 thing you like or learned from the video
