(flatride)
Give into temptation and take a trip through Robot Hell aboard this fast-paced spinning attraction.
In an underdeveloped corner of New New York sits a large structure that looks to be made of canvas and scrap metal. The structure is outlined by red and yellow popcorn lights, which guide the eye to a large set of fire-accented lettering above the center of the structure which reads “The Inferno.” Below the sign is the large animatronic head of The Robot Devil, which appears to be bursting out of the roof. His glowing yellow eyes dart around as his head looks side to side, sizing up passing guests. Occasionally his mouth opens as smoke begins to pour out. Suddenly, the smoke begins to force itself out in short bursts as he starts coughing.
“*COUGH*. Oh- *cough*. Oh god. *wheeze* Too much. *deep breath* Smoke. *clears throat* Ahem. Come one, come all to The Inferno. Yes, let this spectacle of light, sound, and thrills fill your heart with delight, and lead your immortal soul ever closer to eternal damna-eh even more delight. Yes. A lot of delight. And whimsy.”
Every few minutes, the head will again erupt with smoke and say a different line, including:
“Abandon all hope ye who vomit here.”
“Just get on the ride already. I don’t have all day.”
“$8.99 for a small soda? That’s truly evil.”
“Hop aboard this oroboros of eternal suffering. Such is life.”
The Inferno is basically a themed musical express. The cars of the train look like they’re made out of stone and stalagmites. Once guests are strapped in, the voice of the Robot Devil can be heard once more:
“Keep your arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times. Or don’t. I’m the devil, what do I care?”
Suddenly, the ride jolts to life as the sound of a calliope slowly grinds up; quickly joined by a trio of fiddle, drums, and saxophone playing an instrumental version of the Robot Hell song featured in the show. The cars quickly twist around the circle, passing under stalactites and mesh curtains. Hanging from some of these stalactites are small robot demons which look down at guests as they pass. In the center of the ride sits a circular stone stage. On this stage The Robot Devil himself, accompanied by a duo of smaller robot demons, play fiddle, drums and saxophone with the music.
After about two and a half minutes, the music and vehicles grind down to a halt. As they stop, the Robot Devil again can be heard.
“Thank you for riding The Inferno. Do come back now. I’ll be waiting. But now...get out.”
Guests exit back into New New York.
