The show no man can kill has been resurrected once more with the opening of Futurama: The World of Tomorrow. This sub-land strives to translate the zany world of the cult TV show into the medium of theme parks with the unique slant that only Futurama can offer. Explore the world of New New York or hop climb aboard a spaceship and join the Planet Express crew on a madcap adventure across dimensions. The future truly is yours.
The main transitional point into The World of Tomorrow is Panucci’s Pizza. Passing the pretty standard-looking pizza joint, the muted colors of modern New York City quickly shift into the pastel hues and retrofuturistic decadence of New New York. The land is essentially a courtyard just off of the New New York waterfront. Large cartoonishly futuristic buildings of every shape and size surround guests as they venture further into the city. Attached to many of these buildings are large pneumatic tubes through which guests can watch an endless number of New New York residents travel through (this is a screen effect.) Look closely and you may spot a few of the show’s more popular (and less popular) side characters. Above the skyline, guests can see streams of spaceships and hover cars as they travel around the city (again, this is a projection effect.)
Stationed around are some of the eclectic locals that help solidify New New York's place as the center of the universe. Look out for Officers Smitty and URL who watch passing guests. Unlucky guests who venture into a nondescript alleyway may be startled to see Roberto’s silhouette illuminated in the moonlight. A spaceship rests in a small crater behind the hulking Omicronians Lrrr and Ndnd. A small crowd reveals Hedonismbot, who squeals in delight as he is carried on a large ornate platform by a quartet of tired, underdressed humans.
In the right corner is the imposing MomCorp Store which offers all of your Futurama needs. Elsewhere stands Elzar’s Fine Cuisine, a fine dining establishment owned by none other than the Neptunian celebrity chef who shares its namesake. If fine dining is not your forte, take a step back in time at The Slurm Spot, and enjoy a cool Slurm amongst the angst and grunge that only the year 1999 can offer.
In a less populated corner stands The Inferno, a flatride operated by none other than the Robot Devil himself, no doubt to lead wayward robots into the temptations of fleeting distraction. The centerpiece of New New York is, of course, Planet Express, which is home to Futurama: Across All Dimensions, a simulator featuring some of your favorite characters from the show.
