Die Hard: Nakatomi Rumble

Facade:

In the south-eastern corner of Central Park is Nakatomi Plaza, the infamous tower featured in the hit film franchise Die Hard. Nakatomi Plaza is based on the real life Fox Plaza. Guests enter the attraction's queue through the building's main entrance.

Queue Part 1:

Once in the building, guests traverse switchback queues that go past the iconic security desk featured in the film until the line reaches an elevator lobby featured in the film. A cast member dressed as a security guard ushers groups of 10 guests into one of 4 elevators, making sure to step into the elevator to press the 30th floor button.

Preshow:

Once inside the elevator, a screen mounted on the front wall plays a video of a lady welcoming the guests to their tour of Nakatomi Plaza, the crown jewel of the Nakatomi Corporation. The woman explains that their first stop will be the 30th floor, as it is the workplace of the company's regional execs; however, she apologizes to the visitors as guests typically take an "express elevator" to get to the 30th floor, but it was down for maintenance.

The preshow functions as a legitimate elevator, bringing guests to a second level, or thematically, the "30th Floor."

Queue Part 2:

Guests explore the 30th floor in all its glory. The interior waterfall, staircase, and offices are all featured. The queue explores the 30th-floor lobby before jetting down the hallway featuring Holly Gennaro's office; groups of 21 guests are ushered into her office.

Second Preshow:

Once in the office, the doors close behind the 21st guest and a preshow begins. After a few moments, out of nowhere, an animatronic Hans Gruber comes out of hiding from under the desk and proceeds to sit on a chair, four of his thugs, three of which are animatronics, also come out of hiding.

Gruber proceeds to monologue about how the 21 guests are ruining his plans and how it was a mistake to come.

One of the thugs suggests "We outta send em' down that thing!" motioning to a set of elevator doors covered with a "down for maintenance" sign; unknowingly, the thug is referring to the express elevators mentioned in the first preshow.

Another thug chirps in "it ain't working, how we gonna get 'em down it?"

Gruber quickly and wittily responds "it doesn't have to work, we just have to get the doors open; Theo, can you get them open?"

"I can try, give me a second," responds Theo.

The animatronic Theo messes with a cluster of wires to get the doors open while the other thugs antagonize the guests. Suddenly, a burst of sparks flies in his face causing the elevator's doors to open, 21 empty seats, one for each guest.

The fourth thug, a cast member, proceeds to guide guests into the elevator and ensures their seatbelts are properly fastened being letting them go.

Alternatively, if the ride is backed up, a B-Mode kicks in, causing the room's lights to go out after the sparks instead of opening the doors. The thugs spew dialogue at Theo for causing the lights to go out, but once the ride is ready to commence, the lights return as Theo causes the doors to open.

The preshow functions similarly to Rise of the Resistance's final preshow (the interrogation room).

Attraction

After guests have been placed in the elevator the ride starts by immediately dropping down 30 feet due to it being under refurbishment. Since the elevator preshow is a legitimate elevator this is capable. By immediately falling, it sells the illusion of being high up on a skyscraper.

Guests see another set of thugs threatening to send them flying down the other 27 stories, but suddenly, guests can hear a loud thud on the vehicle. It's John McClane! "I'm up here" he reassures them. The thugs look to the top of the elevator and point their guns and a series of shots get fired. 2 out of the three animatronic thugs fall to the floor but the 3rd fires a shot that hits the elevator's electrical panel. "Ugh oh" says McClane. The panel spews smoke and flashes lights before the elevator shoots up, then down, up, down, down, up to the building's top floor where Gruber and 3 animatronic thugs wait alongside a big pile of explosives.

John McClane, still on top of the elevator, yells "I got this" and throws a match at the explosives while yelling out his icon catchphrase, "Yippe Ki Yay".

The resulting explosion sends the elevator plummeting back down to the bottom level for a total drop of 150 feet before safely coming to a stop.

McClane cheers "They'll regret the day they tried to face me. Thanks for your help y'all!" The elevator doors open one last time and guests exit the vehicle. Guests then walk down a hallway and return to the streets of New York.
