Slide 11: Ptolemy's Ancient Map

Now, students begin to bring historical context into how maps are created and how they show the perspective of the cartographer's time-period and region in the world. Students examine the work of Ptolemy. We look at who this cartographer was, what influenced his perspective on the world, and introducing the concept of people seeing themselves and their home as the center of the world.
