Student Working Example
Movement is utilized in everyday life, from moving around the classroom to getting out of bed, asking the students to take a closer look at the functionality of movement as a resource for critical thinking, this beginning Sculpture Ⅰ assignment helps to broaden what students might think of as 'art.' Designing their own moveable automatas using a variety of materials and techniques, the students during this three-week unit sought inspiration from contemporary 3-D artists, as well as from each other through class mid-point feedback. While each artist was working on a vastly different concept, they were each able to critically think and apply active problem solving through a multititle of obstacles from individual daily instruction and evidence-based trial and error.
