Student Working Example
Throughout projects in the art classroom, multiple checkpoints are made in a variety of ways both with the teacher and between students to gauge both the progress and communication of an artwork. Through these midpoint critiques, students are exposed to different perspectives in both concept and skill at multiple different levels. This example from the Ceramic ⅠⅠ unit, Forms of Duality, had students work through a packet of SEE, THINK and WONDER by looking at contemporary artists working in the same themes. Taking turns presenting their in-progress work, the other table members share two glows and one grow about the individuals' projects. After, the students complete an in-depth reflection on both the critique and process thus far - including how this new information will contribute to the completion of their artwork!
