When I was young, we used projectors in the classroom. As I furthered my education, the technology advanced into Smart Boards. They connected to the computers and had lots of different apps. One including smart notebook. In this Interactive Whiteboard research project, we were able to create a lesson using smart notebook and making it interactive for our students. For my lesson I taught the present tense verb conjugation. So how we say "I talk", "I walk", etc. in Spanish. For the ar, er, and ir verbs. There are a couple of slides that focus on teaching how to do the present tense conjugation. Then the last couple of slides had some practice activities on it for the students to complete.
Use technology to create, adapt and personalize learning experiences that foster independent learning and accommodate learner differences and needs (5a). The smart notebook lands under this ISTE standard because this app is a different way to make a lesson for students of all ages. It also helps students who are visual learners and makes it fun for students because they get to complete the activities.
This activity falls under augmentation because the smart notebook is more technologically advanced than the projectors that we used to use. This way students and teachers can write on the board without using visa v markers and have to clean off the overhead sheets. It also has the ability to connect straight to the teachers computer so anything that they have prepared for the class can be shown to the entire class. It also can be used on laptops.
These specific activities were challenging and to be honest I did not understand a lot of the activities. So I created a lesson to the best of my abilities and now I know how to work the smart notebook for my classroom. This also could be good to use if we are still in some online classes in the coming years. I believe that some learning could remain online if needed. Now I have another tool to create lessons that I can send out if schooling is still online. Or if we need to make these adjustments in the future.
