The world of tango music is vast, layered, and full of surprises. Even after years of listening, collecting, and DJing, I keep stumbling across recordings that I had either overlooked or never known existed. Some are forgotten gems; others are alternate versions of well-loved classics, performed by voices and orchestras that give them an entirely new character.
This series, TangoDJ Secrets, is not meant to be definitive or authoritative. I don’t claim to know everything—far from it. Instead, it is my way of sharing discoveries with the tango community: tracks that rarely make it onto the playlist at a typical milonga, but which deserve to be heard, remembered, and perhaps danced to once again.
Each essay will highlight one of these pieces, weaving together its history, the stories of the musicians behind it, and what makes it special to me as a DJ and a listener. My hope is that this journey will enrich our collective appreciation of tango’s depth and remind us that, beneath the familiar repertoire, there is still a vast archive waiting to be explored.
