Last weekend, Iβve been dancing and soaking in the incredible vibe of the π»ππππππ πΊπππππ π»ππππ π΄πππππππ. After so many years of dancing and DJing, Iβve realized somethingβI can recognize most of the tracks DJs play, and sometimes, I even get a sense of dΓ©jΓ vu with the tandas they put together. Thatβs the beauty of tango: its rich tradition, familiar melodies, and the emotions they evoke.Β Β
But tango is also about discovery. Thatβs why I want to take you on a journey through some ππππππ-πππππ πππππ ππππβtracks that deserve a place on the dance floor but often remain in the shadows of their more famous counterparts.Β Β
Letβs start with π»ππππ π΅ππππππππ. Youβve likely danced to these well-known versions:Β Β
But have you heard these rarer takes?Β Β
Tango isnβt just about dancing or DJingβitβs also about the joy of discovering these hidden treasures. Every time I uncover something new, my heart races with excitement, and I canβt wait to share it with dancersβwhether at a local milonga or an international marathon. And thatβs exactly what I did the last time I DJed in Toronto. I played Demareβs version as a cortina at the very end of the milonga. To my delight, I saw plenty of couples continued dancing, completely immersed in the music. It was a perfect way to close the nightβyes, you guessed it, this was the cortina right before La Cumparsita. Afterward, I received wonderful compliments from dancers who had never heard this version before. Moments like these remind me why I love being a DJβbringing unexpected beauty to the dance floor and seeing how dancers connect with it.
So, next time Iβm in your city, Iβd love to bring something unique and beautiful to your dance floor. And if youβre organizing a local event and looking for a DJ, Iβd be honored to share my passion with your community. Letβs keep exploring tango together!Β
