Narrative Designer & Project Manager
This project was created in Unreal engine. In the group project Homeowner, a multiplayer game featuring one homeowner and four invaders, I was the narrative designer and played a central role in developing the story and shaping the overall experience. The narrative centers around a homeowner conducting odd experiments to bring his daughter back to life, while a group of neighborhood kids, the invaders, attempt to uncover the truth behind the strange happenings at his house. As the sole narrative designer, I was responsible for structuring the storyline and ensuring it was suspenseful. The ludonarrative gameplay intentionally builds tension, keeping players on edge as they explore the eerie house and uncover the homeowner's dark secrets.
I focused on developing the characters, ensuring their motivations felt authentic. The homeowner’s obsession with resurrecting his daughter drives his actions, creating a sense of danger and urgency. The invaders, driven by curiosity, seek to end his experiments. I designed the narrative to give players a sense of agency, ensuring their decisions feel impactful and shape the story's progression. The key-based puzzles were integrated into the plot, as the invaders searched for keys scattered across the house, each unlocking different doors and revealing more about the homeowner’s twisted experiments.
In addition to narrative design, I also took on project management responsibilities. I used Jira to organize sprints, allocate tasks, and track the progress of the team, ensuring we met deadlines and stayed on course. The image on the right displays the velocity report of our combined sprints. I initiated meetings and started group discussions to ensure everyone was aligned on the game’s direction. I also contributed to playtesting by creating detailed survey questionnaires to gather player feedback on their experience. Lastly, I worked with telemetry data to identify player behaviors and improve gameplay.
