This is a strategic card game featuring a deck of 18 cards. Each of the cards have a different health and attack number. The cards also have different bonuses, which activate under different circumstances.
For this group project, I was responsible for making the rules of the card game as well as documenting our process and managing the team's Kanban board. Additionally, I organized the group meetings and took initiative to ensure all team members participated and collaborated well.Â
In order to create the rules, we had to first establish the properties of each card. We had to work together to decide the health and damage values as well as individual card abilities to create balanced cards. The next part was deciding how players could place their cards. Players can place their cards in a 3x3 grid, and the cards have different effects based on their placements with other cards. Let's say I have a support card placed down and I want to play a tank card. My support card's ability gives my tank 5 extra health if the tank card is adjacent to the support card. Therefore, it is best to place my tank card adjacent to my support card in order for it to receive the benefits. If I placed the card diagonally, it would be a waste of a placement.
The next course of action was deciding what actions a player could take during their turn. In order to give players enough autonomy and choice, they would be able to pick one of any 3 moves to make during their turn: pick up a card, place a card or attack. A player can also relocate a card on their board one time during their turn.
By deciding these gameplay elements, I created a rulebook to explain the game to players. The link to the rulebook PDF is located below.
