Narrative Designer & Level Designer
Finding Home was created in Twine. In this group assignment, my primary responsibility was crafting the script for a choose-your-own-adventure narrative story, which aimed to bring awareness to climate change and its impacts on the oceans. The narrative highlighted issues such as overfishing and the melting of icebergs, focusing on the delicate balance of marine ecosystems and the urgent environmental challenges they face. My role involved developing the branching narrative structure, crafting engaging dialogue, and ensuring the plot aligned with our collective vision to inform the audience about these pressing issues.
To add an interactive element, I worked on creating symbols for a language puzzle that required logic-solving. This puzzle was inspired by symbols from various sources, including native symbols and examples from fictional alien languages, which added depth and cultural richness to the puzzle design. It was crafted to engage players in critical thinking while reinforcing the story's themes of problem-solving and environmental awareness. By integrating this puzzle into the narrative, we provided an immersive experience that combined interactive storytelling with educational content.
In addition to the narrative elements, I contributed to the visual aspects of the project by creating some 2D art assets. One notable example is the penguin image displayed within the game. This asset, along with others, was designed to visually represent the impact of climate change on marine life and make the story more engaging and visually appealing.
Overall, my work focused on maintaining a coherent and compelling storyline, integrating character development, and highlighting key environmental themes. By combining branching narratives, interactive puzzles, and visual art, we aimed to create a holistic experience that raised awareness about climate change and its effects on our oceans.
