Title: Â Anomalies, Gauging, and Onsiteability
Abstract: I will discuss anomalies of discrete, invertible global symmetries on the lattice, with a focus on 0-form symmetries in 1+1d, and 1-form symmetries in 2+1d. The anomaly is characterized by the algebraic structure of the pointlike symmetry defects. I will present systematic procedures for gauging and higher gauging, and propose notions of onsiteability and p-onsiteability of higher-form symmetries. Under these definitions, a symmetry is onsiteable if and only if it is gaugeable, and p-onsiteable if and only if it is p-gaugeable.
