I sure do miss your faces! I'd love to hear from any of you any time! Let me know if you'd like to have a huddle Zoom sometime, and if so, if you have a preference for day and time. My email is gena.messer@k12.sd.us and my phone number is 391-two six seven eight. I hope you're making the most of this new kind of normal. A couple of my favorite Bible verses are Philippians 4:6-7 and James 1:2-4. I challenge you to look them up, and maybe even memorize them!

Our sweet Jenna Ham is back in the hospital. She would LOVE cards, especially cards that would make her laugh. That seems like a perfect fit for many of you! Her address is Jenna Ham, Children's Mercy Hospital, 2401 Gillham Rd, Kansas City, MO 64108, 4 Henson Rm 5.

2/25/20 Ice Skating Update

10am update: Due to the continued snow and accumulations, the ice rink will not be open this afternoon.

Happy Snow Day! Get a group text going (or try to respond to the Remind text) and decide what you'd like to do for ice skating. This isn't a school or FCA sponsored event; you're just encouraged to take the initiative to gather up some good friends and enjoy time together! I'll be praying that you find the fun and fellowship energizing, and that you enjoy the time together and keep your eyes open for opportunities to shine the love the Christ. FYI: Today is 2-for-1 admission. Saturday is the last day the rink is open for the season and there is skating from 10am to 10pm, with a beach party from 1:00 to 5:00pm. Saturday's weather looks beautiful! More details on ice skating can be found here: Main Street Square Ice Skating. Weather or not you decide to ice skate today, I encourage you to eat dinner at Pizza Ranch any time between 5 and 8pm to support the SWMS fundraiser. If you come to eat and decide you'd like to pitch in with busing, I bet the help would be welcome!

The next Wednesday morning meeting is tentatively scheduled for March 11 at 7am - stay tuned for updates. Builder's Cub will meet next Tuesday, March 3rd at 3:15 if you'd enjoy exploring some fun community service projects.

2/20/20 Announcements for FCA

Gather your FCA friends and enjoy some ice skating at Main Street Square on February 25 from 3:30 - 4:45 or 5:00, then head on over to the south side Pizza Ranch for dinner. Please organize transportation and funding through your parents. If the cost of admission is a problem, please let us know in advance and we will be glad to help you out. This is not an FCA or school sponsored event, just a great opportunity for you to get together with friends! Please stop in Rm 78 before Tuesday to sign up if you plan to attend.

There will NOT be FCA on Wednesday, February 26.

2/9/20 Current Announcements for FCA

We have an AWESOME group of kids in FCA - fun, lively, faithful, eager, positive, and best of all - a desire to enjoy team time together and to deepen their relationship with Christ. Following are tentative dates for the remainder of the semester. Much of our focus during these meetings will be on the Tim Tebow "This is the Day" series on Right Now Media. If team members would like to sign up to help out with breakfast, a short game, or a devotion, that is welcome and appreciated!

Wed, Feb 12 at 7:00am

Wed, Mar 11 at 7:00am

Wed, Apr 1 at 7:00am (Mrs. Garrett?)

Wed, May 13 at 7:00am

The above dates are subject to change, and we are happy to add dates as requested! We just may need an adult willing to help out during any added events.

Some other great options:

  • We encourage FCA kids to check out the Builder's Club! It's a great way to live out Christ's love by serving others. The Builder's Club focuses on service, leadership, character, and loyalty. It is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club and is not a faith-based organization. The Builder's Club typically meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 3:15 until 4:00 or 4:15, plus embarks on a variety of service projects. Most recently, they participated in a Chopped competition at the Fork Real Cafe and prepared food for meals.
  • The huddle has also brainstormed the possibility of some other fun activities such as ice skating at Main Street Square, the Senior Living/Easter Egg project, game night, spike ball, treasure hunt, pancake feed at Memorial Park, and a bonfire at Canyon Lake. We welcome parent involvement!

Please feel free to reach out at any time if you have questions or suggestions! grace14weeks@yahoo.com or genamesser@yahoo.com

Announcements: Wednesday, November 20

Please review these two important announcements:

  • PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE BULLET POINT: Be sure that you have subscribed to the CURRENT Remind list as it is the key source of communication. It changed due to a change in huddle leaders (outlined in past announcements). If you are NOT subscribed to this specific list, you will no longer receive updates. Follow these simple instructions: 1. Open your messaging app, 2. In the “To:” field, type 81010, 3. In the message area, type @k9h86c3
  • FCA will NOT meet at 7:30 am on November 20th. They WILL meet from 3:30 - 4:30 instead of 7:00am. At around 4:45, we will make a special delivery to Jenna H. (more details about her in the 11/12 announcement below.) They live in the Enchanted Hills area, and we should be all done and back to school by 5:30 at the very latest. Any huddle members who want to be in Room 78 from 3:05 - 3:30 are welcome if that makes transportation easier. Kids are welcome to participate in all, some, or none of the activities that day. We understand that Wednesdays are busy. We DO need drivers to make this work. The RSVP form should be quick and easy to complete and is important so that we know if we have enough drivers. November Outing - RSVP

Your kids are AWESOME! Thanks for sharing them with us. We are blessed. : )

11/12/19 Current Announcements for FCA

Light for Jenna

The kids wrote an encouraging verse and we will place those in small jars with a battery-operated tea-light and tissue paper and leave them on the front step. If you have any other gifts you'd like to share, you're welcome to do so but there is no obligation whatsoever. We will leave the school at 4:45, arrive at their house around 5:00 and should be back to school around 5:30.

There is no FCA Wednesday, November 13

We welcome Grace Weeks back as our huddle leader! Due to the change in leadership, please be sure that you have subscribed to the NEW remind feed! (This information changed on 11/5/19.)

REMIND: Be sure sure you are using the code below: 1. Open your messaging app, 2. In the “To:” field, type 81010, 3. In the message area, type @k9h86c3

PLEASE NOTE TIME CHANGE FOR NEXT WEEK: There will not be a morning meeting on Wednesday, November 20. Instead, for those whose schedule allows, we will deliver a gift to Jenna H., a young lady who attended SWMS last year as a 6th grader. She was diagnosed with Leukemia in May and was not able to return to school this year. We will make the delivery to their house at 5:00pm (Enchanted Hills area) and should be done by 5:30. FCA kids are welcome to just stay after school if that helps with transportation. We will put the finishing touches on the gift and will weave in a couple of other activities.
