About Our Team:

The Edinburg Ducks Swim Team is a summer swim league located in Edinburg, VA, and part of the Shenandoah County Swim League, Inc.. This team offers children between the ages of 4 to 18 the opportunity to swim competitively in the summer. Although Edinburg swimmers have been competing in the Shenandoah County Swim League since 1993 to include Kitra Staubus and her sister, in 1999 the Ducks became a stand-alone team with the Staubus family coaching and competing. In the beginning the Edinburg Ducks Swim Team did not have enough swimmers to compete and would combine with the Mount Jackson Fins Swim Team for meets. As time went on more swimmers joined the duck's little team. Originally in 1999, the Edinburg Ducks Swim Team had less than 20 swimmers, by 2003 the team had grown to 55 swimmers, and a few years later the team was in the 80s. As time went on more people saw that the Ducks program was family strong. The Edinburg Ducks Swim Team raised money and purchased fins, kickboards, and other training aids. The Edinburg Ducks Swim Team was also the first team to raise enough money to purchase their very own starting system. As time passed the Ducks became a very powerful program with parents and swimmers well informed. As coaches and managers the Edinburg Ducks Swim Team tried to work as hard as the kids worked in the pool. For nine years the ducks were undefeated. The Edinburg Ducks swam and worked hard in their little four lane pool. At one point almost all records were owned by the Ducks. The Edinburg Ducks Swim Team also knows of at least one person that saved a child’s life in a sail boat accident directly attributed to the summer swimming program. 

The Edinburg Ducks believe in fostering a mentorship-based program where senior swimmers help with the water instruction of their younger swimmers. It is within this type of training that this team has watched their children develop skills that they can carry with them throughout their lives. The Edinburg Ducks Swim Team promotes and encourages leadership and community among their team. Each swimmer will learn, grow, and advance their skills in swimming by developing the skills and relationships needed to be healthy, confident, and connected to others. The Ducks are a true family.
