Link4Growth is a community building organisation. What does that mean?

Through engaging via Link4Growth each of us can practice

1. Speaking with others and becoming curious about the people who live and work around us
2. Getting to know others and becoming more connected with those in our community, in turn expanding our network and friends
3. Sharing our skills and experiences with others and... develop our own knowledge via others. This in turn grows our business or passion.
4. Contribution, 'giving back' to your local community (in a way that works for you)

In this session we explore the principles and values of Link4Growth, what services are provided locally, and how you might like to participate.

Link4Growth ~ Hosting events ( SessionID: 30002 )

Link4Growth brings people together to have conversations. The mechanism for achieving this is through events. These events can be of varying types shown below.

Link4Growth events

1. Community Coffee
2. Evening drinks gatherings
3. Breakfasts (Sunday)
4. Walks

In this session we look at the role of the Host at these events.

In this Learning Session you will discover

• The basics of operating the event
• Where the event is advertised and promoted
• What happens during the event
• The small amount of Admin involved

• Key behavioral guidelines for the host

Why should you attend?

If you would like to take responsibility as a host for a Link4Growth event then this "Learning Session" is obligatory.

Although not a complex role the Host is often the first contact with people attending a Link4Growth event and therefore is crucial in setting the scene about Link4Growth.

This "Learning Session" is also invaluable for those supporting others running events and provides a comprehensive introduction to the different 'systems' deployed for people to book and to know who is likely to be attending.

How might you benefit?

You can benefit from attending in a number of ways :-

1. Learn how to run an Event that provides an authentic Link4Growth experience
2. Be able to operate all the supporting tools that are in place to create an event people can find and want to come and enjoy
3. Create an atmosphere where people feel comfortable and where they can be themselves with no pressure or expectation
4. Identify issues that might arise and how to deal with them effectively
5. How to grow your own social interpersonal skills and develop a wide personal network

Calendars and Events ( SessionID: 30003 )

In South West Herts we have built a series of community diaries. These diaries are based on Google Calendars and are collaborative in that whoever would like to help populate them, can.

By collaborating and working together we can create a set of comprehensive community calendars that contain the vast majority of what is happening locally, without it being an onerous task for anyone.

In this session we look at what and where we would post different type of events into the various calendars

In this Learning Session you will discover

• The different calendars available
• Why the calendars exist and the purpose of each
• How to add the calendar to your Google calendar, and help others do the same
• How you find the calendars, share with others, and the community hub
• How people are allocated to being able to add things to the calendar

Included :

• Guidelines for adding entries into the calendars
• Adding links to the description of the event
• Repeating events and things to watch out for
• Places where people post what is happening locally (source of info)

Why should you attend?

If you are keen to help share local events and collaborate with others to provide a really useful tool for everyone in the community to use, then this is a must for you.

Typically organisations will only post about their own events and if they are lucky others might share too... but these posts quickly fade in timelines... these calendars we are building become a permanent and easily accessible community service that not only will provide information about what is coming up... but a record of what has been before also.

1. Become more connected with what is happening locally and get more involved
2. Help others in the community become more visible by getting their events listed in these local calendars
3. Discover how easy it is to be able to add events to the calendar and contribute something really useful
