Here are some examples of activities we will be running during our clinics. Our focus for this mini session is different medical professions. Please note that we may be doing more activities in addition to the ones listed below, and that these are just some examples.

Day 1

Surgeons

Brain Surgery

This interactive project will allow the students to understand what the brain looks like and the precise motions needed for surgery.

Create your own cast!

After learning about surgery, students will craft their own injury and determine a simple way to fix the issue (pick which tools to use, rest time, casts/crutches needed, etc.)

Day 2

Dentists/Orthodontists

Students will create their mouth and learn about the different teeth and how many teeth adults/kids have. After, they will model pulling out teeth.

Plaque Experiment

Students will participate in a messy science experiment which demonstrates how excess sugar leads to plaque build-up

Day 3

Pharmacists

Create your Medicine!

We will demonstrate how much content goes into the creation of one pill, and students will create their own vial of "pills" including a customized prescription label!

Students will mimic the job of a pharmacist by carefully counting "pills" to make sure they're accurately packaged.

Day 4

Optometrists

Students will become optometrists and pretend to find someone's eye prescription by creating a fake phoropter. They will learn the different parts of the instrument and it's use.

Model the eye!

Students will create a detailed eye using Jello, different art materials, and toothpicks to create veins and learn more about the eye.
