Sapiens: A brief history of humankind

A non-fiction from a historian's perspective about how humanity came to be this all-powerful force on this Earth. I think it is a must- read for every human. It also gives the author's perspective on issues such as agricultural revolution, scientific revolution, commercialisation, capitalisation, politics, wealth, socio-economic inequality. It raises multiple debates very relevant to current times and forces you to introspect and look at things in a different way. It challenges you, invigorates you and inspires you. The way humankind has gone from respecting the physical elements such as trees and rivers, to shifting that respect to fictional structures (bank, money) to finally exploiting the very same trees, animals and rivers. The way they have gone from co-existing with forests to cutting away trees to make beautiful homes to live in. The way the fictional idea of money has taken over every other aspect of our being: our humanity, our empathy and our kindness. It sheds light on the fact that not everything is over!. That we can still band together and show the same resilience that we showed before and keep maintaining the status of ALIVE on Earth.
