My first year of interning was the 2020-2021 school year. I chose to intern with a 4th grade ELA and social studies class, because of my love for English. Unfortunately for me, this was the first school year Covid-19 had been around, which meant things were a lot different for these students because of circumstances like online learning, masks, social distancing and more. From this internship, I was able to gain insight with hands on experience of what it looks like in a elementary classroom day by day and learn how to deal with different behavior issues, learning disabilities, and any daily problems that occur. I was also able to learn different teaching strategies and techniques through shadowing my mentor such as visualization, cooperative learning, using technology in the classroom and more.Â
To the left are pictures of both the classes of students I was able to work with. Through this tough year, I made very special bonds with all of my kids.
