We are hiring Lead Teachers for our Wednesday programs, serving students ages 6-14 years old for the following subjects:

• Reading/Phonics (for beginning readers)

• Math

• Nature Study/Natural History

• Foreign Language (any)

• Handicrafts (ex. Sewing, knitting, woodcarving, etc)

• Visual Arts (ex. watercolor, pastels, clay, etc)

• Movement (ex. Yoga, folk dance, Swedish drill, etc)

• Singing (Solfa or other)

• Drama

• Geography

• Plutarch/Citizenship

Subject-specific teachers will provide instruction to students ages 6-14, separated into two smaller groups. 

Duties

• Plan engaging, literature-based and hands-on lessons rooted in Mason and/or Montessori methods

• Build supportive and respectful relationships with students 

• Promote an organized classroom environment that allows every student to learn 

• Manage students engaging in a variety of activities 

• Communicate supply needs to director in a timely manner 

• Attend staff workshops (monthly)

Requirements

• Familiarity with Mason or Montessori methods 

• Experience teaching (traditional classroom or homeschool)

• Kind and compassionate demeanor toward children

We are hiring Assistant Teachers for ages 3-10 on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Duties

• Assist Lead Teachers by:

  • Helping students cut, glue, other simple crafts

  • Gathering or preparing supplies for an activity

  • Helping maintain an orderly classroom during small group activities

  • Cleaning up after an activity or class is done

• Supervise preschool-age children 

Requirements

• 16+ years old

• Organized, patient, kind

•  Some experience working with children (babysitting, caring for younger siblings, volunteer, etc)

• Growth mindset and open to feedback

• Team player
