The Summit Apiary

I am a Certified Master Beekeeper through Cornell University.  My apiaries are located in Bayonne and Pompton Plains, New Jersey, USA.   These apiaries are set up as learning apiaries for new beekeepers to get hands-on experience with beekeeping.     The apiaries also provide research and sustainability projects to enhance the awareness and importance of primary pollinators in our environment.   I do not sell bees or bee products, however I have been known to gift a jar of honey every now and then to my volunteers and neighbors!  My honey bees are from the species Apis Mellifera.  Apis is Latin for "bee" and Mellifera is from the Latin phrase "mel-afferentem", meaning "honey-bearing".

My two apiaries are registered with the New Jersey Department of Agriculture AIS #: 6053 (Bayonne Yard #: 6577; Pompton Plains Yard #: 7918).  Both apiaries are maintained by Dr. Joe Chimento.

“No living creature, not even man, has achieved, in the centre of his sphere, what the bee has achieved in her own: and were someone from another world to descend and ask of the earth the most perfect creation of the logic of life, we should needs have to offer the humble comb of honey” by Maurice Maeterlinck, from The Life Of The Bee, 1924.
