PREFACE is a summer experience hosted by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute designed for students interested in pursuing a career in engineering or technology who are part of groups that have been historically and traditionally underrepresented or underserved in science, engineering, and other technological fields.

Pricing: Financial aid is available
The 2022 program costs $800 per student to attend. This pays for all associated program costs, including the cost of instructors, supplies, the program T-shirt, and mailing costs to send the supplies to students’ homes. The fee will be payable upon notice of selection in the program.
Eligibility: You must be entering 11th or 12th grade in September 2022. You must be a rising 11th and 12th-grade student. You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident with a background traditionally underrepresented in science, engineering, and other technological fields.
Accept students who are not residents/citizens of the US. However, we are unable to provide financial support for these statuses sucb as DACA and TPS students.
